About the event
Affordable Housing Awareness Month (AHAM) is an annual campaign held in May, dedicated to raising awareness about the critical need for affordable housing and the challenges many individuals and families face in securing and maintaining safe, stable, and affordable homes. This year’s theme, “Advancing Affordable Housing: Beyond the Bricks,” invites us to assess, celebrate, and take meaningful action to overcome the barriers in affordable housing.
As in previous years, we will officially recognize May as Affordable Housing Awareness Month through proclamations from the cities of Charlotte, Towns of Davidson and Huntersville, and Mecklenburg County. Local leaders from these communities will join us in proclaiming May as Affordable Housing Awareness Month, highlighting the successes of their respective towns and cities.
