Introducing Kenneth Caldwell: The Visionary Artist Behind the Cald To Art Charity Auction

Get ready to be inspired, moved, and captivated by the talent of Kenneth Caldwell, the brilliant North Minneapolis artist whose work will be featured in the upcoming Cald To Art Charity Auction at the Harlem Nights Affair on March 27, 2025. This special event, organized by Affordable Housing for the Carolinas (AHFTC), is not only an exciting opportunity to purchase one-of-a-kind art pieces but also to contribute to an important cause that provides essential home repair services to families in need.

The Artistic Journey of Kenneth Caldwell

Kenneth Caldwell's deep connection to art began early in life, thanks to his father, the renowned artist Charles Caldwell. From a young age, Kenneth watched his father create stunning pieces in the quiet hours of the night, completely immersed in his craft. Those moments of watching Charles bring art to life sparked a flame within Kenneth that would never be extinguished.

As he recalls, it wasn’t just a hobby—it was a calling. Kenneth shares, "A CaldToArt experience has so many meanings to me. It was never just about creating art. I felt like I was called to do it." For Kenneth, art is his life’s purpose, and he is driven by a desire to create pieces that not only captivate the viewer but also tell powerful stories. Whether through murals, abstract art, or timeless portraits, each piece Kenneth creates holds deep meaning and resonates with his audience.

The Cald To Art Charity Auction: Art with a Purpose

The Cald To Art Charity Auction is a reflection of Kenneth's passion for art that speaks to the soul. The auction will feature a selection of electrifying pieces that showcase a wide array of themes—from the beauty of family, the vibrancy of music, and the essence of womanhood, to stunning depictions of African American culture and "Sundays Best." Each painting, each creation, has its own unique story to tell. But beyond their aesthetic appeal, these pieces also serve a greater purpose.

A portion of the proceeds from the Cald To Art Charity Auction will go directly to benefit AHFTC's Home Repair Program. This program is designed to help families living at or below 80% of the area’s median income in the Charlotte region. By purchasing one of Kenneth’s pieces, you’ll be supporting home repair initiatives that are critical in preserving affordable housing for those in need.

Why Affordable Housing for the Carolinas Needs Your Support

Over 22% of homeowners and 47% of renters in the Charlotte region are cost-burdened, meaning they are spending more than 30% of their income on housing costs. According to the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD), no one should spend more than 30% of their income on housing in order for it to remain affordable. When families are forced to allocate such a significant portion of their income to housing, it leaves less for essentials like food, healthcare, and home maintenance.

Charlotte is facing an affordable housing crisis, and the need for action is urgent. AHFTC’s work focuses on helping homeowners who are struggling to maintain their homes, often due to financial constraints. These families—who live at or below the 80% median income—need support to repair, restore, and preserve their homes. Through education, resources, and hands-on help, AHFTC ensures that these families can stay in the homes they love and continue to thrive.

In addition to home repairs, AHFTC also offers workshops to help homeowners learn how to maintain and care for their properties. Your support—whether through purchasing art, attending the Harlem Nights Affair, or making a donation—will make a real difference in the lives of these families.
