The Home Repair Program is essential for maintaining affordable housing in the Charlotte region, where over 23% of homeowners and 47% of renters are considered cost-burdened. Affordable housing, as defined by HUD, is housing that costs no more than 30% of a family's income. Preserving the existing affordable housing stock is critical to helping families remain in their homes, particularly for those living at 80% of the Area Median Income (AMI).

As we face an aging society, many retirees are struggling to stay in their homes due to rising taxes and the need for accommodations to "age in place." AHFTC's Home Repair Program helps empower homeowners by providing essential repairs, aging in place services, and educational workshops, that allow families to continue to live in their homes with dignity.
